Ed Wennerstrom

Ed Wennerstrom built his first boat, without any plans, in his late teens. It promptly became a children's sandbox. Next came a New England banks dory from plans, much better, with a sprit sailing rig. A Carolina Skiff followed, with an inboard motor well. Arriving in Bedford about 20 years ago, he has made cabinets, work stations, display cases, desks and bookcases for the Bedford Library System and the Bedford Museum. Another sailing lapstreak skiff followed. Needing many frames and matting for his photographs led him to build frames for himself and then others by request.

Ed began photography with his first manual Nikon purchased while on R&R from duty in Korea. He says, "I had that camera so long it became a collectable." The old camera was swapped for a newer Nikon SLR which was later replaced by a high-end digital point and shoot. The point and shoot is joined today by a "too complicated to use"; Nikon digital SLR. Ed has received several awards at the Smith Mountain Arts Council photography shows.
