Evelyn Johnson, along with her late husband Ed, established Moncure's Frame Gallery in 1983.  For nearly three decades, they served the Bedford community with custom framing and exhibits of work by local artists.  Not only does Evelyn now help out at Goose Creek Studio assisting with frame production, but she also provides amazing culinary creations for our receptions.
It is our goal that our work in the framing of art and promoting the arts and crafts of local folks will compliment the life and talents of this community. As our endeavor continues to take shape, we hope that you will join in the conversation.                             If you have ideas, comments, suggestions, please feel free to let us know.

 Our Mission

Goose Creek Studio was born from a process of discernment as to how best build on our previous experiences in art production, framing, education and programming. Bedford provides a logical place for this endeavor because of our existing roots in the area and a growing and vibrant arts community that exists in the region. The name of the business and logo are reflective of Bedford County and our desire to foster a connection between art and spirituality in our own work and the work displayed in the shop's art galleries. The goose is an ancient symbol of the Holy Spirit in Celtic art and mythology. It is the Spirit's power that enkindles in all people the gifts and talents to create and illustrate the beauty of God and the creation.

The image of the goose in our logo is based on images found in the medieval illustrations of the Book of Kells. Special thanks to Carol Burnett for the flattering images of the Goose Creek Studio staff! |
